Dear Customer,

Hope you are doing well.

Unfortunately, I am not able to see the attachments. Kindly share the same again.

Please note that it could be possible that the Sentinel HL key has become faulty.Also try using another HL key and share the behaviour.

Additionally, please share the following details:

- Type of HL key being used?

- Share the error message received while trying to install Sentinel HASP/LDK drivers.

- Are you able to open the Admin Control Center ( http://localhost:1947/_int_/ACC_help_index.html ). Kindly share the screenshot of 'Sentinel Keys' page.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,
Gaurav Bhanoot

Program performances after protection

Hi all,
I'm analyzing the performances of a test program after protection with Sentinel LDK Envelope 7.4
Attached you can find the test program. Without protection the execution lasts 30ms. If I protect the .exe with the default parameters the execution lasts 950ms! I try different settings. For example, selecting only the core method and disabling all the protection (see attached image), the execution lasts 500ms. Decompiling the code, LDK Envelope only added

  1. \u003442172457.\u00336033679((object) null, MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod(), true);
  2.       try
  3.       {
  4. [...]
  5.      }
  6.       finally
  7.       {
  8.         \u003442172457.\u00336033679((object) null, MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod(), false);
  9.       }
So, no encryption nor obfuscation decrease a lot the performaces!

The loophole that I found to obfuscate the code and maintain performances is to deselect all methods, create an empty Dummy method and protect only it (otherwise LDK Envelope does nothing) and select String encryption and Obfuscate Symbols in .NET Default Protection Settings.
Am I doing something wrong or this behavior is correct?

Thank you
Best regards
Matteo

Hi Matteo,

Hope you are keeping well.

Yes, Envelope protection increases startup time for any executable but we need to investigate further on this issue. Kindly send one email to "technical.support@gemalto.com" with your query/issue and LDK version that you are using for protection.

Anubhav

Hi,
I've sent the email.
The method that I call is not during startup... And is the same also if that method is not in the .exe file but in another dll...

Let me know

Re : Is it possible upgrade protection key and master key to driverless?

Hello Diuming,

Just a clarification on your first question:

Q1)Is it possible to upgrade protection key and master key to driverless?

It is possible to upgrade a "protection key" to driverless using Sentinel EMS or LicGen APIs, but it is not possible to upgrade the "LDK Masterkey" to driverless.

- The "LDK Masterkey" remain property of Gemalto. Only Gemalto can generate updates for your Masterkey.

- The "LDK Masterkey" have extra functionalities that do require for the "Local License Manager" to be installed as part of the LDK Runtime Installer. So there are no reason for Gemalto to produce a Driverless version of the Masterkey.

Olivier

RMS redundant server stops responding until it is restarted.

We have a customer that is running an RMS redundant server system and they are experiencing periodic stoppages every week or so.  The behaviour they see is:

1. RMS servers run ok for 1 or 2 weeks.
2. Clients start receiving "error 5" timeouts when checking out new licenses or they are failing to update existing checked out licenses.
3. wlmadmin does not appear to start (i.e. no GUI is displayed) when started on the same host as any of the RMS servers.
4. If the RMS service is stopped and restarted everything starts working again immediately (wlmadmin, licensed apps etc.).

Notes:
1. No events are recorded in the Windows event log.
2. The customer is running RMS version 8.6.1.1101.
3. The customer has temporarily switched over to standalone licenses and no problems are being reported so this problem seems to be limited to the redundant server technology.
4. The customer does want to use the redundant server functionality to comply with their disaster recovery requirements and have requested that this issue is fixed.

Please can you advise ?

SuperPro driver not loading on Windows 10

I have a client trying to run our SuperPro protected software under Windows 10. The Sentinel System Driver (Version 7.5.8.0) installation runs without error. When the client tries to run our software or the Field Exchange Utility they receive an E0003 Key not found error.

In their Device Manager the key shows up correctly under USB Controllers as "Safenet USB SuperPro/UltraPro". The driver properties shows displays this status:

Device status

The driver events tab shows that the device did not start.

I had them run the Sentinel Advanced Medic with these results:

The medic log starts with:

Sentinel USB Driver

After running both the Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.8 and Sentinel System Driver 7.5.9, everytime I run the SAM tool it states that the USB driver is missing. I'm installing on a new Dell laptop running Windows 10 Pro - 1703

I'm not sure where to go to get this working correctly.

Thanks.

Hi,

For the mentioned issue please check in Control Panel under "Programs and Features", if the drivers are successfully installed then you should have following entries:

Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.8
Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.9

Also, if you are using any hardware dongle just check in the Device Manager if the connected hardware is visible there.

Though, if the entries are not visible then please send an Email to us over technical.support@gemalto.com or crmprod@gemalto.com to further investigate the issue.

Thanks,
Heena

Henna, when I check Installed Programs I do see it installed:

When I open Device Manager I also see it listed:

Here are the listed driver versions and date:

Yet when I run the Medic to test I keep getting this error:

I have tried to contact support, case CS0291246, since I got the HASP from the vendor they said they can't help, when I contact the vendor they say its a driver issue and to contact Gemalto.
