Ashish, I managed to detect a couple of other exported functions (for evaluating the feature).

But when our software tries to access those exported functions during runtime (after envelope), I get an "Sentinel key not found" error with retry and cancel buttons.

What could be the cause of this problem?

AppOnChip protected application works only with HL Driverless Keys.
Please confirm if the connected key is Driverless configuration.

This can be checked in Admin Control Center (http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html) under "Configuration" column. Driverless keys will show "Driverless" in this column while others will show "HASP".

HASP configuration keys (with firmware 4.xx) can be converted to Driverless in EMS-
Enable the checkbox "Upgrade to driverless" while creating the product.

Share the screenshot of "http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html" if you still face any issue.

Ashish, I managed to make it work by changing the functions slightly.
It seems to work perfectly when "hasp_windows_x64_demo.dll" file is besides the executable.

But when this file is absent, my exe still runs, but displays the same error irregularly. If I press retry enough times, it may or may not continue to work without a particular pattern.

What is the purpose of the hasp_windows_x64_demo.dll file which is generated by the Envelope?
Should it be always besides the main executable? Why does my exe run even that dll file is absent?

The file "hasp_windows_x64_xxxx.dll or hasp_windows_xxxx.dll" is the vendor specific runtime library.
This is used by the protected application at runtime. You should get one or both versions (32bit and 64bit) of the file in envelope'e output directory based on the type of exe being protected.

Yes, It is mandatory to be present with the protected executable.
If the application is unable to find the DLL, it should show an error message with error - "H0400 : No ApiDyLib"
Please confirm if this is the error you face when running without the DLL?

Please clarify "But when this file is absent, my exe still runs, but displays the same error irregularly. If I press retry enough times, it may or may not continue to work without a particular pattern."
Do you mean the application works normally after pressing Retry button multiple times?

Here is my scenario:

When apponchip is not used, my exe runs fine without any dll's present at all. In fact we don't install that vendor specific dll in users machines at all (for years) because the executable runs fine without it.

When apponchip is used, and the dll is not present, exe starts without problems. It runs fine until apponchip routines. When apponchip query is done, an error message is displayed. When I press retry 10-20 times, it runs fine until the next apponchip query.

I'll install the vendor specific dll and hasp_rt.exe from now on to users machines, just to be sure.

Hello,

I have the same problem.
A Windows 10 Laptop. I tried different versions of the driver, up to 7.6.8
I need it for SuperPro USB.
I tried complete installation, or only USB always the same result.
No Error-Message but no installed driver. The driver isn't shown in Windows Software.
The dongle isn't shown in device manager.
We have thousands of customers with sentinel, but I didn't see this until now.

Linux Envelope Debian

Hi,
I tried to envelope an application and I obtained this error :

linuxenv: fatal E0001: internal error (hint 0x000007DB)

I'm using :
LINUXENV, Sentinel LDK Envelope for Linux (ELF x86 and x86_64) applications, Version 1.1.54891
On other applications less criticals, it works.

Also I'm using a demo kit sentinel skd 7.4.

On a sample that didn't worked,I tested by removing all my links to internal libraries and just keeping calls to std. It didn't work either, could we obtain a help on those error codes to orientate our correction/adaptation ?

Sentinel HL net & 7.90 driver doesn't work

We have a simple network composed by three machines.

With 7.66 drivers every machine can act as a server and in all other machines the HL net 10 dongle is seen.

If I install in one machine 7.90 drivers, this machine cannot be the server because no one can see the dongle.

I tried to install 7.90 in one machine at time and only who has the 7.90 cannot work as server.

On the contrary when uninstalled 7.90 and reinstalled 7.66 the machine can work again as a server.

When 7.90 was installed I tried also to use in other machines "Aggressive Search for Remote Licenses" and to set the IP server on "Remote License Search Parameters".

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS linuxenv: fatal E0001: internal error (hint 0x000007E3)

Dear reader,

We try to use linuxenv to secure a linux application. I tested it with the sample applications. They do work well.

However when I try to do the same with our own application I get the error mentioned in the title? I am doing this in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS in Hyper-V.

Any idea what the reason is and how to resolve?

Thank you.

Dear User,

Thanks for raising the concern.

The description suggests that the issue is application specific. Hence, would require a detailed investigation over the same. Please be suggested to contact our support team at https://gemalto.service-now.com/csm/ with below details :

- version of the linux envelope.
- version of the compiler.
- details over libraries used (if any).

If you have tested with any previous release then please be suggested to try our latest LDK Linux envelope version 7.9 and confirm if the issue still persists.

Sentinel License Manager to share only one of two keys to network

Is it possible to setup the Sentinel License Manager to share only one of two local keys?

The localhost:1947 / configuration / access from remote clients only sets it off or on for all keys.

I have a master key and a regular key. I'd like to share only the regular key in a machine.

Hi Ivan,

By default Master key cannot be used remotely. It has to be connected locally on the machine where VendorSuite or EMS is installed.
For other keys- only HL NET or HL NET-TIME keys can be used over network.
Additionally, the NET or NET-TIME key be accessible over the network only if features present in the key have "Network" enabled.

This can be checked in Admin Control Center. Check the "Key Type" column to know the type of key.
Then check the "Features" in your keys for "Access" column. This column may show any of the following-
  • Loc            :      Feature can be used locally
  • Net            :      Feature can be used over network
  • Display      :      Feature can be used over Remote Desktop connection. Means application and license are on same machine but this machine is accessed from any other machine via RDP. If feature has "Display" then the application will run over RDP connection.
Please share the screenshot of Admin Control Center showing your key type and the features present in the key in case you have any further queries.

Regards,
Ashish

Ashish,

Sorry I wasn't clear enough, the other key is a NET key and its purpose is to be used over the network, and it's working accordingly.

Even if a master key cannot be used remotely, the master key and NET key are seen as a shared keys in any other client with the license manager installed.

Is there a way to hide the Master Key and show only the NET key from a client in the network?

Hi Ivan,

No changes can be done to master key modules.
Even if the master key is seen on other machines over network, the key cannot be used from remote machines.

Master key can be used by Vendor Suite tools like envelope to protect the application and by EMS for license generation, only from local machine.

Examples:
Mater key connected on Machine A where LDK is installed (EMS + Vendor Suite).
The key is also visible on machine B over network.

  • If we install vendor suite on Machine B and try to run master wizard/envelope, it will no detect the master key
Even if master key has NET access enabled in the modules, the tools using master key (Vendor Suite and EMS) cannot communicate with it over network.
  • If we install EMS on Machine B - it will not be able to generate the license for your batch code and will return error for master key not found.
However, EMS installed on Machine A can be accessed from Machine B or any other machine over network via browser and can be used to generate the license as long as Master keys is connected on Machine A (where EMS is installed). This is irrespective of master key being visible on other machines.
To summarize- any master key operations cannot be performed from remote machines.
The NET access is applicable for user keys (other keys except master/developer).

Old application using parallel HASP-dongle not working under Win10 1809 32bit

$

Hi,

I'm still using an old application (2006) that made use of a parallel Aladdin HASP dongle.

Recently I had to re-install my PC and used the new Windows 10 1809-release. Since then I can't get the application running anymore, and this is due to the HASP-key not working.

It used to work under Win_1709, but I had some hassle to get the HASP4-driver installed and had to do it with some tweaks. Now this doesn't work anymore. I've already installed the Sentinel LDK Run-Time & Cmd-Line SW which do install, but still the key is not recognized. Readout of Aladdin Diagnostics 1.10 is attached.

I'm using a PCIe Parallel port extension board.

When trying to install the HASP4 Driver v5.22 with which I could get things running under Win_1709, I now get first an error that the drivers is not suited for this Operating System, and afterwards I get a BSOD. When running WhoCrashed I see that the probable cause was Haspnt.sys.

Attachments:

Under Win_1709:

    "AladdinDiagnostic91 GOOD Redout 1.jpg": HASP key found on local port;
    "AladdinDiagnostic91 GOOD Redout 2.jpg": Details of the port found;
"Aladdin DiagnostiX110 GOOD System Info Result.jpg": System info gathered via Aladdin Diagnostic 1.10

    "AladdinDiagnostic91 Faulty Redout 2": Details of the Aladdin Diagnostics 9.1 findings;
"Aladdin DiagnostiX110 Faulty Result": Result on Aladdin Diagnostics 1.10 HASP page

Help appreciated!

Kind regards.
