Re : Envelope c++ apps and .pdb file

Dear David,

Debugging and analysis of crash dump is disabled in protected application for security purpose. This prevents from any unauthorized debugging of the application to get the memory dump and other information.

To analyse the crash dump at your end, you can replace the protected exe with the unprotected version and then use it with the pdb files to check the execution stack.

Thanks,
Ashish

Re : sntl_admin_context_new_scope How login Master Key local only

Seems work with some little different. I used an empty scope because I don't want to check the key ID (that is different for each MasterKey right?) and sntl_admin_context_new_scope take only two args.

  1. const char *pScopeMaster =
  2. "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" ?>"
  3. "<haspscope>"
  4. "<host>localhost</host>"
  5. "</haspscope>";
  6. status_admin = sntl_admin_context_new_scope(&pContext, pScopeMaster);

Dear Giordano,

Yes, the key id for every master key is unique.
Usually there should be only master key hence you can still use the key id scope.

However, you can use the empty scope if it suits your requirement.

Dear Ashish

My customers can generate a crash dump of any process.
My protected program have an automatic crash dump generation capability but I can't do nothing with this because .pdb can't load into visual studio 2008.

I can't replace with unprotected version
I don't want to send to my customers an unprotected version.
This is nosense !

The pdb file is a private file for my dump analyse. I don't understand what is unsecure to create a private pdb file of my protected application.

David

Dear David,

Pdb files are generated only when the application is compiled in Debug  mode.
Usually pdb files are used by developer along with the Debug mode application for analysis at their end.

However, the version shared with the customers is a Release mode application that does not contain a pdb file.

There is no need to share the unprotected file with the customer.
You can take the crash dump from the customer and use the unprotected application and pdb file for analysis at your end.

The pdb link in protected application is removed to prevent unauthorized analysis of the application dump.
This prevents the risk of detecting application workflow by checking the memory dump/stack.

For further details, please contact us on Support@SafeNet-Inc.com

Thanks,
Ashish

Dear Ashish

Pdb files are generated only when the application is compiled in  Debug   mode.

It's FALSE !
Microsoft generate pdb file for all of system DLL of Windows, in release mode

You can take the crash dump from the customer and use the unprotected application and pdb file for analysis at your end.

It's impossible to do what you say : If pdb file don't match executable, the crash dump don't be read (or I haven't found how)

Problem with HASP LM installation on Windows Server 2008R2

Hello

Before server was running correctly on Windows 2003 (32-bit) and now I'm trying to install HASP LM on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit). I installed without any problem (lmsetup.exe 8.32.5.40) but in Aladin Monitor I don't see dongle - it was correctly installed (It's visible in Device MAnager).

So could you tell me it's HASP LM worsk on Windows Server 2009 R2 (64-bit)? Maybe I installed wrong driver's, could you send me driver/installation file in which it will be work properly?

Hi Chris,

Hope you are doing good.

Please be informed that HASP HL License Manager (8.32.5.40) is not officially supported over Windows Server 2008 R2. In your case may be it is successfully installed but not allowing the sync between the key and the Aladdin Monitor.

Please confirm is the Application working under the scenario mentioned by you.

If not, you can try by uninstalling the lmsetup.exe completely from the system, restart the machine and install it again.

You can also try to install our latest Hasp drivers (not officially tested for your scenario) from the below path:

http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589947119

(Please remove lmsetup.exe first)

Thanks,

Heena

Hello

Thank you for your answer.

I assume that there's not any other version of   HL License Manager that It wolud be work on Windows Server 2008 R2?
I checked instalation folder and comper to folder HASP installed on Windows Server 2003 (I attached Folder HASP LM.jpg) and It looks that not every files are installed. Maybe I am wrong and these files are installed in diffrent place?

I'll chceck later if it's uninstallation, installation drivers (that you send) and again instalation HASP LM will work;

Thanks again

Chris

Hi Chris,

HASP4 being our legacy product, there are no further enhancements.

The License Manager version used by you is the latest one only (after that there is no release).

As this is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2, may be because of this you are not getting complete folders.

Though, you may also try the steps suggested by us.

Please feel free to get back to us in case of any query.

Thanks,

Heena

Hello again

I have only one more question about this product: could you write me (or you could send a file/link to file) the official list of system supported by HASP HL License Manager? This will solve my question about supported systems to choose right one.

Thank you so much in advance

Chris

I get the error "One or more of the C2V files are invalid or empty, or relate to a non-existent Batch Code." when trying to check in C2V files in Sentinel EMS version 7.4.

I have already tried to remove extra characters at the end of the C2V file using HexEdit, as suggested here:

http://sentineltechsupport.safenet-inc.com/2014/12/one-or-more-of-the-c2v-files-are-invalid-or-empty-or-relate-to-a-non-existent-batch-while-checking-in-c2v-in-sentinel-ems/

Please help me understand what I am doing wrong.  Thanks.

HASP Driver for Windows 10

Dear Community,

I have a software program I bought years ago that uses a USB hardware key running on Windows Vista. The HASP driver version that came with the software is 4.85. Now I've installed my software program on a brand new computer running Windows 10. However when I attempt to install the Sentinel System Driver 5.41.1 (32 bit) it attempts to install HASP Driver 4.85 that fails with the following message " Failed to start Aladdin Device Driver. Failed to start a service in the Service Control Manager Database". Hence the software program fails to detect the USB hardware key and doesn't run.

Please provide a path forward. Your help and support is much appreciated.

Regards,
SH

I found that I was entering the .c2v file at the wrong time - I needed to create an entitlement first and then when I activate the entitlement, it would prompt for the c2v file, and then create a v2c file.  This was my misunderstanding - no problem with the software.
