Haspdinst.exe BSOD for 7.50 and 7.51

Hello, I wanted to report a BSOD when installing version 7.50 or 7.51 of haspdinst.exe.

This only seems to happen on certain hardware. A snippet from our own bug system:


It seems the issue only occurs on systems using a chipset for servers and workstations. 
Here are some hardware configurations where the issue occurred: 

Intel® Core™ i7-4930K Processor 
Ivy Bridge-E 

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-1620 v3 
Haswell-EP 

The customers of those systems also had computers with "normal" consumer hardware (e.g "Haswell"; H97 chipset) where the issue didn't occurred. 

I can confirm this as well, I have a Xeon CPU E5-1607 CPU
The BSOD reports a problem with IAStorA.sys or one of the "IAStor?.sys" drivers.

I was able to get one of the machines that is mentioned (the last one) and try a few installs. I could consistently BSOD (instantly too, while the install was running) installing 7.50, 7.51, and consistently not BSOD with 7.41.

I can provide dump files and system information. I'm honestly not sure if this is the best place to report a major issue, but I was unable to find a better location. Please contact me directly if you need more information. We have moved back to 7.41 for the time being.

Thanks for raising the concern.

We acknowledge the same.

Please be informed that this is a known issue with version 7.50 and 7.51 and expected to be resolved in the next RTE release.

Please be advised to use version 7.41 for now.

Sentinel EMS 7.5 and Internet Explorer

Hello.


in my test some function of Sentinel EMS like "Recycle Key" doesn't work if I use Microsoft Internet Explorer.

These function give an error about an incorrect Java VM installation.

But Java is installed and updated.

It seems EMS java applet interpret IE like an 64 application but I'm using IE 32 bit version.

Envelope "Protection completed with errors"

Hello,
After upgrading LDK from version 7.4 to 7.5, protection of one of my .NET assemblies fails. Clicking "Protect" in Envelope results in "Protection completed with errors" message and no protected assembly is made. When using Envelope via command line, Envelope exits with errorlevel=1 giving no error messages.

I have other assemblies that are protected without problems using the same Master key and Envelope version.

Is there any way I can get more information about this error so I can troubleshoot this issue? So far the only information I have is that is fails to protected the assembly - no reason is shown whatsoever.

However, this appears to be an application specific issue that would require further investigations.

Please be advised to open a support ticket by dropping an email at support@safenet-inc.com with problem description along with some supportive attachments like project file (.prjx) and error screenshot while protecting.

Hello Luke,

Thanks for raising the concern.

However, there are similar known issues reported with Sentinel EMS 7.5 due to some incompatibilities between  IE v11 and java 8 updates.

We have tested the same over other browsers (like Mozilla Firefox) and it is working fine without any hassle with java settings required.

Since the Sentinel LDK 7.5 no longer have dependency on java applets. You can also opt to use non-applet browsers (like Google Chrome) to bypass java requirements.

Please feel free to share if there are further concerns.

Yes, it is an other way to check current version of SuperPro Driver and also we can check same using getversion API.

dear guys,

we have encountered a problem , when we install "NetHASP_Monitor_Setup ","HASP_License_Manager_setup","Aladdin_DiagnostiX" , the error NO. is 10 . but i have tested in my home , both winServer 2012 r2,  and it works .

office environment: server ：vm  ESXI 5.5 、vmOS WinServer2012 r2    client pc: win 7  win 10
here is the pic 

by the way , our company has two seperate offices  and connected by fiber optic. our server is one place , i  encounter this in another place .  i am sure  they both in same LAN .

Hi Edwin,

Hope you are keeping well.

First thing I would like to inform you that HASP4/HASP HL 1.x is not supported anymore.

Yes, in general this error should occur if you run application on terminal services. It's possible to way-around it by using a Net key, not sure whether this will work for the utilities, but it should work for the protected app (unless it's hard coded to use local key only).

Hi

I solved the problem (a few months ago) and removed the EMS 7.1 and 7.4 with a separate removal and cleaning tool. After that I can install the EMS 7.4 normally.

Sentinel EMS not running

Hi

I have Sentinel EMS 7.4 installed and it working well earlier this year. But now I can not start EMS service. It try start and then stopped. In attachment shows error window when I try to start EMS in Windows service.

The commons-daemon.2016-11-25.log says that:

Java (current) is Version 8 Update 5 (build 1.8.0_05-b13):

  • Jre_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_05
  • Java Runtime: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_05\bin\javaw.exe
  • Java Virtual Machine (EMS Service Properties): C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_05\bin\server\jvm.dll

In the computer is found:

  • Java 8 Update 5 (jre1.8.0_05) 32-bit
  • Java 8 Update 5 (jre1.8.0_05) 64-bit
  • Java 8 (jre1.8.0_77) 32-bit

Envelope not able to correctly interpret .Net assembly via Refresh button...

For several releases now, the Sentinel LDK Envelope is still not able to reliably detect what Envelope Attributes are being used in a .Net assembly. It seems like the Envelope project files, when combined with use of Envelope Attributes in code, are a "mixed bag" of sticky settings that are carried along from previous .Net assembly evaluations. The only way to get the Envelope to correctly show what is going on with an assembly w/attributes referenced by the Envelope project is to create a NEW Envelope project each time. (i.e. can not rely on Envelope project file, since it brings along old interpretations of the assemblies...?)

To illustrate  this: Try to build a Release version of a basic WinForms application using C#. Make use of Envelope attributes in the code to define protection settings. Create an Envelope project and observe that it correctly detects that attributes are used in the code (i.e. list of protection settings becomes "read-only" in the Envelope GUI)

Then, remove all use of Envelope-attributes in the code and rebuild the release. Open the Envelope project again, and refresh the list of protection settings for the assembly. The Envelope program still thinks that there are attributes used in the assembly(!) Why does this happen? Does it not re-scan the .Net assembly when user click the Refresh button? Does it "carry-along" sticky settings from the Envelope project file (i.e. from previous Refreshes)?

Adding to the above issues, an Envelope protected WinForm executable, developed w/C# & Visual Studio still does not run if a Form is set to Localizable and/or if a basic Form Icon is defined via Visual Studio designer. This happens when the "Obfuscate Symbols" settings are set to "Exclude resources". There seems to be issues with how the Envelope protection deals with Designer-generated code?

If the Envelope Refresh feature can't even detect if Envelope Attributes are used in the code, how can we trust that it interpret the actual protection settings defined in the attributes?

i have known that is not a problem if the dongle is recognised .

sorry my bad english . i would try my best to express my issue clearly. 

we have two office located in 2 places  ,but  3 kinds of ip addresses .

server use 172.x.x.x, the same place  pc use 127.130.x.x
another place pc use 127.129.x.x 
both of them can ping to each other .

when we use the floating license service, the 127.130.x.x pc can get the authorization.  but 127.129.x.x can't .

with our test , it is because the prot  has been blocked . 
cause when we open the whole ports , it worked.
if we open port 475 , not work .
is there any other ports  that i don;t know ??
we can not open the whole ports because security.

wonder if u guys can tell me the ports for both server side and client side .  thank you so much ~~

Hi Juha,

Hope you are keeping well.

Please uninstall JRE 8 update 77 from target machine and make sure the EMS port that you are using should free or not used by any other application. 

If it is not working then share logs from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Gemalto or Safenet Sentinel\Sentinel EMS\EMSServer\webapps\ems\log" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Gemalto or Safenet Sentinel\Sentinel EMS\EMSServer\logs"
