Hi Anubhav,

Ok, here you go:

1) The error is occurring when I run Sentinel Envelope and try to protect and application.
2) I am using a HL NetTime Developer Key.
3) Yes, the device is visible through "http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html".
4) Not sure what you mean by "local licenses".  What is this, and how to I install them?  Would this not require the key to during protection?

Regards,
David

Hi David,

Thank you for reply.

I would like to inform you that on Hyper-V, Only Software License (SL) is officially supported and tested although here is some basic requirement to access any remote license:

1- We should enable remote option for any license through EMS or Business Studio Server.
2- License should we visible is ACC.

Thank You,

Thank you Gaurav,

Unfortunately I still have issues with the dongle not being detected.
As far as I know the application Vectorworks 11.1 is 32 bit and works very well on XP Professional.

Any other thoughts?

Generating a c2v file on a Linux system

Greetings!

I have been using Sentinel LDK on a windows system for a while now. I have understood that RUS tool can be used to generate a c2v file. I wanted to know a way to generate c2v (system fingerprint file) on a Linux operating system as the RUS tool is no available for Linux.

Also, if both Vendor and end-user are operating on Linux systems, do they both need to have Sentinel installed on their systems for the above mentioned purpose?

How to detect Hasp HL key and verify it is working

We occasionally come across users with Hasp HL dongle (green type HASP HL Max) that are reported to be faulty, under both Mac and Windows environment. How can we verify that the dongle is working or not?

1 - On your download page, there is an Aladdin Diagnostix tool. Can this be used to check if a dongle key is working or not? I have tried this on Windows 7 and Windows XP but the tool keeps reporting that no Hasp HL dongles are found in local, even though our software that uses the dongle shows as licensed already. Also, this software does not seem to be available for Mac.
2 - What is the best driver / download to use for the green type of Hasp HL dongle? Is it the Sentinel HASP/LDK 7.41?
3 - Any other way to verify that the dongle is working correctly?

Thanks in advance.

Dear Customer,

Thanks for your query.

1.    Aladdin Diagnostix tool is used for legacy HASP keys. Please use the Admin Control Center for new HASP dongles after installation of drivers.

2.    Yes, the latest LDK driver version for Windows is 7.41

Please find below the links to download HASP/LDK drivers:

Sentinel HASP/LDK Windows GUI runtime installer:

http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589947119

Sentinel HASP/LDK Windows Command line runtime installer:

http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589947873

Sentinel HASP LDK Mac OS X runtime Script installation:

http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589945157

Sentinel HASP LDK Mac OS X runtime GUI installation:

http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589945156

3.    To verify if the dongle is working:

a.        Check if it glows when connected with the machine.

b.       After the LDK driver installation, open the Admin Control Center ( http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html and the HL dongle would be visible under 'Sentinel Keys' page.

Thank You,

Gaurav Bhanot

Dear Pavan,

In Linux, the RUS tool functionality is performed by using runtime API's.

Please refer to the "hasp_update" sample in your LDK Linux directory.
(....Sentinel LDK\Linux\Samples\Runtime)

This sample has all the fucntionality of RUS tool. The dafault sample is for DEMOMA batch code.
Please recompile the sample with your vendor code string and the corresponding libraries to use this sample for your batch code.

Thanks,
Ashish

Cannot install HASP LDK, "Error when starting the hardlock service with parameters 1168 577 1"

I am having some trouble install HASP LDK on a computer.

Using the HASP LDK 7.41 Windows GUI installer, the installer with fail halfway through with the error (screenshot also attached):
"Error when starting the hardlock service with parameters 1168 577 1.
This is an internal error. For assistance, contact your administrator or the software manufacturer.
Status Code: 48 5 829 577"

This is being installed to get a HASP HL Max dongle to work on a Windows 7 computer.

The following has been tried but the issue still shows:
- Remove the HASP driver dongle from Control Panel -> Device Manager, then install LDK
- Install LDK when the dongle is not plugged in; also tried installing when it is plugged in
- Restarted computer multiple times following install

From reading some of the forum posts, there maybe some registry conflicts.

How can this problem be fixed? Thanks in advance.

Dear Customer,

Hope you are doing well.

The error code indicates that Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. Some recent hardware or software changes might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly.

This occurs in case the driver signature database of operating system is corrupted or the drivers are unsigned. As the Sentinel HASP/LDK drivers are signed, it seems that there could be a corruption at OS level.

For further investigation, please drop us an email with the details mentioned above on Support@SafeNet-Inc.com

Thank you,

Upgrading/migrating from Sentinel Pro to ??

I have a client who has been a long-time user of the Sentinel protection key (the SuperPro AFAIK) for one of his applications (an add-on to AutoCAD). He has not been maintaining/upgrading his application or his Sentinel interface for quite a while. I'm pretty sure the last update was one that I did back in 2009 (I'm just your typical software developer). He is now faced with updating things in order to be able to support newer versions of AutoCAD, since AutoDesk has changed binary compatibility and will require newer versions of Visual Studio.

So, that's the long-winded introduction to set the stage. The question now is: "Which way should he go?" If it's at all possible to keep using the SuperPro key, that would be his preferred route. If all that's necessary is to use a newer SDK (with new .lib files) and include new drivers for the key, he'd be really happy, since it won't mean additional cost or hassle to his customers..

If he really has to dump the older key and update to something newer, he (and I) need to know what product to use and what it will cost to get there. He has no interest in software protection at this point, and prefers to keep using a dongle.

Any and all comments/advice invited.

Thanks
Norm

Hi Norm,

Hope you are doing good.

Regarding the query, this is to inform that SuperPro being our legacy product there are no such enhancements available in the same.

The latest SDK that we have is 7.1 which provide support till  AutoCAD 2010.

As such SuperPro is not tested (and supported) at our end with latest AutoCAD version, you can go ahead and test the same in your test environment.

Also, please be informed that the latest product which we have is LDK and we recommend to use the same for future.

For cost related queries you need to get in touch with Sales.

Thanks,

Heena

Re : Hasp License Manager not releasing licenses

Hi Anubhav,

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct in saying that the Hasp 4 Net10 keys are not compatible with the Sentinel SafeNet Control Center? Or at least, that I can't control license connections from the ACC? Using the latest drivers, I'm able to see the HASP key information in the ACC when I'm on the server as well as the client.  I can't see active sessions on the sessions page, however, even though the product is licensed and working fine on the test computer. Perhaps this is a result of still using the Hasp4 license manager service in the background?

Thanks!

Jesse

HASP Protected DLL not loading in Win32 Test App

Hello,

I am facing some issue while using/loading HASP protected DLL’s.

I am able to protect a Win32 DLL using HASP key.

But when I load the protected DLL in Win32 Test App via below code LoadLibrary Api fails.

HMODULE libHandle = LoadLibrary(TEXT("LVCS_DLL.dll"));

The code works well when we use an unprotected DLL.

Could you please help us trouble shoot the issue with loading a protected DLL.

We have specific requirement to use DLL and not an executable.

I have inserted the client key in the system where I am running the test APP.

Same client key used for protection and to play DLL.

Development Environment : Visual Studio 2008

Best Regards,

Arjun

Hi Arjun,

Hope you are keeping well.

Kindly share few details for further investigation.

1- Kindly share the error screenshot for protected DLL.
2- Sentinel Envelope version that you are using for protection.
3- Sentinel Envelop project file (.prjx) for further investigation.
4- If it is possible then share sample unprotected application that replicates same issue at our end with issue replication steps.

Thank You,
Anubhav

Hi Jesse,

Thank you for reply,

Yes you are right, Sentinel LDK license manager uses hasp4 driver in the background but we are not able to see hasp4 key and session in Admin Control Center.
