Sentinel LDK with HASP4 session and client logging

$

Hi
We have a red HASP HL USB license key connected to a:
licensing server (2K8 R2)
Clients are Win7 Pro x64
HASP License Manager V 8.32.5.40
Sentinel LDK Runtime Environment V 7.41

The ACC displays the key and it's details however, there does not appear to be any indication when a client machine checks out a licence. No session activity or user and no activity regarding a 'user@client' in the access log. Must be doing something wrong!

Regards

Hi Paul,

Hope you are keeping well.

I would like to inform, Hasp4 Keys are not visible in "Sentinel LDK Runtime Environment(ACC)". Also with your are using Hasp HL or Sentinel HL key then only Feature 0 is visible in ACC but any program no. and related session information is not visible.

Thank You,
Anubhav

Hi Anubhav
Thank you for the rapid response. I did a typo in the post stating HASP4 when it's actually HASP HL net. We need to be able to log clients checking out and in the licences.

Regards
Paul

Greetings Paul,

If no Sessions under the ACC are being seen when accessing that protected software, then it is likely that software is only protected against the legacy HASP4/HASP HL v1.x license protection (which uses that 8.32.5.40 License Manager to distribute the network seat licenses to client machines). You can also then use the Aladdin Monitor utility to see what network licenses are currently in use (however no logging of that tool is available - closest thing would be something like a screenshot taken every X minutes to track which clients are logged in).

If you want to use the ACC logging, then you would need to make sure your software protection is updated to use the updated LDK protection mechanisms. Then clients will gain access to the licenses provided they have the LDK RTE installed on their machines, and as long as you have your server's ACC configured to write an Access Log, and Include Local and Remote requests, then you can log those client sessions.

Hopefully this helps to resolve your issue.

Thank you for your response.

I have checked everything and nothing has changed, the driver appears in the device manager but the program behaves as if nothing was connected.

Any ideas?

I'm using a manjaro 64bit cinnamon.
installed wine from manjaro repos.
installed aksusbd
run in terminal:
systemctl enable aksusbd
system start aksusbd
lsusb shows dongle.
4d extra embroidery sw that uses the dongle doesn't run in virtuabox.
attached some screenshots.
If there is any linux distro that would work, please let me know
tnx

Seems like your tech support is not very supportive at all. They keep sending me the same computarized email response...:

That's not very good tech support, plus whoever replies to the email doesn't even bother to read the WHOLE email to get ALL the information provided and needed.
Sad, very sad...

Hi Armando,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. It is recommended to contact us through the vendor because we are unaware of the tools or the strategy used by the vendor for protecting his application.

In the meanwhile please try the following steps-
  1. Downloaded the following packages :
  • Extract the first package and run the command in terminal:
    sudo sh install_32bit_compatibility_package_for_x64.sh
  • Extract the second package and run the following command in terminal to install the drivers:
    sudo ./dinst

  • Following is the list of officially tested and supported flavors of linux-

    • OpenSUSE 12.3, 13.2 (x86 and x86_64)
    • Red Hat EL 6.6, 7.1 (x86 and x86_64)
    • Ubuntu Server 12.04.3, 14.04 (x86 and x86_64)
    • Ubuntu Desktop 12.04.3 (x86 and x86_64)
    • Debian 6.0.10, 8.1 (x86 and x86_64)
    • CentOS 7.1 (x86 and x86_64)

(Other versions of these flavors may also work fine)

If you still face any issues after following these steps, please contact us onSupport@SafeNet-Inc.com keeping your software vendor in copy.

    Thanks,
    Ashish

Older Parallel HASP key with Windows 10

    Hello All,
Might be barking up the wrong tree but I'm looking for some direction to get a new Windows 10 Box with integrated parallel port to see an old parallel HASP dongle.

At this point I've installed the software to run our old unsupported router and it installed perfectly on this Windows 10 Pro x32 (ver 1511 build 10586.218) installation.  The obvious problem is the software won't run until it see's the dongle.

I have started from the ground up and I can change many aspects of the LPT port in the BIOS (SPP, EPP, ECP - use DMA i/o 0378 default,  etc etc)  I also have set the hardware within Windows to  "Use any interrupt" and "Enable Legacy Plug and Play" and always use the LPT1.

The old installation was Windows XP Pro (x32) and the motherboard is beginning to have hardware issues (so I'm being proactive here)

I haven't been able to see the key yet on this box - I've been playing with multiple drivers and reading up on the fixes that worked for others using Windows 7 re compatibility to no avail.

at this moment I am running:
    Run-time Installer    7.41
    Run-time Package    7.41
    hardlock.sys    3.88
    fridge_lib    1.8
    aksfridge.sys    1.74

I have also installed the Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.8 Windows.

Again this is an old HASP parallel dongle (not USB) Any advice on where to go next?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cam

    Hi Cam,

    Hope you are keeping well.

As we know, it is an old key so I am not sure whether it will work or not. Please let me clear few things:

1- Do you have Windows 10 with integrated parallel port ?
2- As per my understanding the only issue is related with parallel keys not detected, am I right?

After installing the latest RTE v7.41, see if the Parallel key is detected under the Aladdin DiagnostiX utility.
    1) http://www.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589943941
    2) After installing that utility, run it, and on the left side click the HASP icon at the bottom of the list.
    3) Then click the "Check Key" button on the right-side, leaving the default settings to look for "any hasp key".
    4) The Parallel Port key should be detected properly if the error code is zero, and it shows the port value.

It may be that the software requires specifically the HASP4 drivers to be installed if it is using an older version of HASP4 Protection. After installing the v7.41 RTE, install the hinstall.exe -i
    http://www.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589943609

    Thank You,
    Anubhav

Thank you for the reply - I shall have a chance to try this mid-next week and will report back - in answer to your questions

1- Yes, Windows 10 Pro x86 with integrated parallel port (active on the bios and a header cable present)
2- Yes - I can NOT detect the HASP key - It used to appear as an item in the device manager (HASP related entry)

    Regards,
    Cam

    Good Morning!
Well cleaned out all the various versions and tests I had done before. Installed the RTE 7.41 and also the 1.1 Aladdin Diags to the system.

After running the Diags as you instructed it returned a value of Zero (0) and the port says LPT 1 (0x0378) but the type and HASP ID remain n/a  - is this an expected result?

(The HASP key itself is white without any other notations except for the word "HASP" in raised white font and on the flip side a 5 digit number with a sticker.)

I would have expected the HASP ID to match that number...no?

When I enter the correct details for the smtp server I keep getting Invalid SMTP Server.

I have triple checked the information and the server settings are correct (using them in a different location).

Any ideas? I am using smtp.gmail.com:587 TLS enabled.
